What's Made In America?

Take a second and look at all materials around you.  The computer you are reading this post on, where was it made?  The clothes that you wear, where was it made?  And so on and so on.  With the Presidential election now just days away there has been talk about unemployment and China not being fair with their goods and trade regulations.  My question is who placed China in the position they are in and if they are becoming these big bad "Bad Guys" that both candidates are now making them to be then how do we stop them and get them back in line?  I made this observation while sitting in my foreign policy class:

  • The pencil I'm writing with, MADE IN FRANCE
  • The binder I'm writing in, MADE IN CHINA
And I thought to myself, America has never really done too much for itself.

Colonist came over from England in hope of settling and plowing the new land, but when things got tough they took from the Natives, taking their cultivated land, their resources and food.  Then pushed them off to the corner with a piece of what was once theirs.
Later in history, how about we start these nice big beautiful plantations.  But with so much land, who will do the work, how about we go take thousands of Africans bring them over and make them do the work, once we have to free them let's segregate them and keep them from riches they produced.
And today, this work is so hard and too tedious, let's hire immigrants for less they'll do the work but now there are too many and they're "taking" our jobs.  We should label them illegal and send them back across the border.

America in my opinion is too lazy.  Let's get our hands dirty in the fields, show our farmers more appreciation and reward them for feeding our country.  Let's get in the factories, build more factories and make these products here at home.  The American people are in charge of running America so let's take a stand and do so.

2012 NBA FINALS

The stage is set, the dates and times have been made.  Lebron Vs. Durant, Battle of the Big 3's.  It has come to what some predicted and what most wanted to see.  Miami vs. OKC.

The Thunder led by 23 year old, 3x scoring champion Kevin Durant, finished off the veteran Spurs in six games after starting the series behind two games to none.
The Miami Heat however had a tougher fight.  Miami started the series leading two games to none, but then dropped three straight games and faced elimination, but 3x MVP Lebron James stood tall in game 6 delivering 45 points and pushing the series to three games a piece and finally closing the series against a tough veteran Boston Celtic squad in game 7.

Now the Finals are here and these questions will be asked and answered thoughout the sereis.  Will we see KD and Lebron one-on-one mostly?  Who will slow down the very quick and aggressive Westbrook?  Which Big 3 will show up early and the most often?  And when OKC's Big 3 are on the court how will Miami match up?

The series will answer my question from my May 22 post, "James or Durant?".  Will James get his first of "not 3, not 4, not 5..." or will Durant supass the "King" by obtaining his title at twenty-three?  The stage is set and we're on the eve of history and greatness.
I'm rooting for good and exciting basketball but my prediction is Oklahoma winning in six maybe seven.

Nick "pac man" Fairley

Former Auburn Tiger and current Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley has been in the news lately for the wrong reasons.
In the last two months Fairley has been arrested twice.
On April 3, 2012 Fairley was stopped and arrested for marijuana possession in Alabama and on May 27, 2012 he was arrested for DUI, reckless driving, and eluding the police, also in Alabama.
Two arrest in two months for the Lions' 2011 first rounder can only lead to one thing in my opinion a suspension of some type and possible parting of ways between Fairley and the Lions.
Could he possibly be on the verge of becoming the new "Pac Man" of the league, someone teams stay away from and no one wants to endorse or will he get things together and save a career that has not even taken off yet?

James or Durant?

Will the NBA story book bypass  Lebron James and move onto Kevin Durant?
A month ago if someone asked me who was the best player in the NBA and who I thought would be playing for a NBA title I would have said Lebron James.
But after watching nearly the first half of the playoffs my answer may now be Kevin Durant.
The first round of the playoffs James and Durant had their ways and performed well but I felt James had the edge due to his performance against the New York Knicks beating them with ease.
Durant and the Thunder did sweep the Mavs but they had more competitive games and it seemed Westbrook was giving Durant more help than James was receiving in Miami.
But after watching the miraculous display of talent and skill Kevin Durant provided us with in the 4-1 series win against the Las Angeles Lakers I must say it appears to be his time.
James entered the league nine years ago with very large expectations and to be the new face of basketball, which he has done.
He has done everything possible except win a title, he then placed a damper on his image by taking his talents to South Beach.
James has 1 final appearance, 3 MVPs and 8 all-star appearances.
In half the time, being five years, Durant has compiled 3 scoring tittles, 3 all-star appearances, and now back to back Western Conference Final appearances.
James has the numbers but Durant is closing fast on the stat sheet and in overall play.
My question is will Durant’s legacy surpass James’ before he even gets to add to it.
My prediction is that the NBA Final winner will come from the Western Conference and there is 50% chance that Kevin Durant could be leading the team that does.
Durant’s second round playoff play and killer closing instincts has him in position to surpass Lebron James in star power and also in the NBA story books.
